"Discover the landscapes of Dénia"  volver

 SUMMER 2024

The Dénia Town Council, through the Ecological Transition area, has once again organised for this summer, an edition of the offer of environmental routes around Dénia and the mountain villages of the Marina Alta "Discover the landscapes of Dénia". The programme has a total of 16 nature outings, between July and August, through different landscapes of the coast or the mountains of the region.

The novelties for this year are the incorporation of two visits, on July 23rd and August 6th, to the Bancal Roig riverbed and to the cooperative winery S. Vicente Ferrer in Teulada. The idea is to visit an ethnological museum of the life and traditional trades of the Marina Alta, and in particular the elements linked to the sultana production process. Another of the firsts for this summer is a simple hiking route along the Segaria, which will take place on 2 August. The path that leaves the recreational area runs along an old irrigation channel.

Between 17 July and 9 August, a series of varied outings will take place, in the form of walks of low to moderate difficulty, to show residents and visitors a variety of landscapes and places without excessive travel. All the routes will take place in the afternoon, to avoid the hottest hours of the day, except for two night-time routes. Due to the great demand, this summer there will again be two nights of astronomical observation, on Thursday 18 July and Friday 9 August, coinciding with the crescent moon. On these two nights, three high-resolution telescopes will be installed at a point of minimum light pollution, thanks to the collaboration of the Astronomical Association of the Marina Alta (AAMA), whose members will give the appropriate explanations.

This offer places value on the discovery of the nearby natural environment as a tourist attraction with routes along the Greenway, the Bassetes park and the beach, the rocky coast of Las Rotas, the Montgó natural park and the Cova de l'Aigua, the Marjal de Pego-Oliva Natural Park, the Mediterranean garden of l'Albarda, the surroundings of Jesús Pobre and the Mercat del Riurau, night-time astronomical observation and the mountain paths in the Vall de Laguar.

To participate in any of the 16 outings, and as places are limited, it will be necessary to pre-register by sending an e-mail to viuiconviu@ayto-denia.es, indicating the name, age and telephone number of each person taking part.

The registration period for each route ends at 13.00 hours the day before each excursion (if the excursion is on a Sunday, pre-registration must be made before 13.00 hours the previous Friday).

Anyone over 7 years of age, in normal health and with basic walking habits may participate.Participants are advised to bring a cap, a rucksack with water, trainers or hiking shoes and a torch for night-time outings.
No animals of any kind are allowed.
